Isla Mujeres is a beautiful place! Just being there is an amazing experience and you don’t need a lot of planning to enjoy yourself.
However, Isla is not only about beautiful scenery and warm beaches. There are more hidden treasures for you to discover. Here you have our favorite things to do on Isla Mujeres.
1. Visit Tortugranja
Sea turtles have made of Isla Mujeres their breeding ground for years. Tortugranja (Turtle Farm) gathers turtle eggs laid on the beach and incubates them to increase the chances of survival for all these beautiful creatures.
Don’t worry, they don’t keep turtles on the farm for their entire life. They release them into open waters, where they belong, on a huge celebration.
2. Tour Punta Sur
On the opposite side of the island tourist area, you will find Punta Sur (South Point), a contemporary art gallery located on a cliff. Yes, a cliff! If this place doesn’t impress you, I don’t know what will.
Also, Punta Sur is the easternmost spot in all of Mexico, which means that this is the first place in the whole country hit by sunlight, hence its slogan “Mexico’s Sunrise.”
3. Snorkel in MUSA
An underwater museum where you can snorkel and dive close to incredible sculptures! That is what you’ll find in the Underwater Museum of Art, a unique spot that allows you to capture astonishing pictures.
The 500 sculptures of this museum are divided in two galleries between Isla Mujeres and Cancun so you can admire them from wherever it fits you better. Both are great choices!
4. Explore Garrafon Natural Reef Park
Garrafon is a natural amusement park that offers a great arrange of activities like zip lines, kayaks and snorkel. Everything you need to spend an unforgettable afternoon on Isla Mujeres.
The magic of this park is on its natural beauty. Unlike other amusement parks, Garrafon truly makes you feel like you’re going on an adventure.
5. Swim at Dolphin Discovery
You can’t go wrong with dolphins, and here you can swim with them! More than an activity, this is a life experience, especially nurturing for the children.
This may be one of the most expensive things to do on this list, but I can assure you it’s worth every penny. It’s fun, memorable and for the whole family.
There you have it. Isla Mujeres has so many wonders for you to explore on your next visit. Don’t hesitate and see them yourself!
